TThe inaugural Rogers Kaleidoscope of Hope Gala is scheduled at the Westin Ottawa this Saturday, October 29, 2011. One of the featured guests is Daniel Puder who's taking a stand against bullying with his new "My Life My Power" book. Puder is making headlines in the U.S. with his program and hopes to make an impact north of the border. He is renowned for winning the first ever WWE "Million Dollar Tough Enough" and is currently an undefeated MMA fighter. Puder himself was bullied as a teen and is looking forward to coming to Ottawa to share his important message. He will be visiting Sacred Heart Catholic School (5870 Abbott Street, Stittsville, ON) on Friday, October 28th at 1:30-2:30pm and speak to the 500 students in grades 8 and 9.

"I think it's just so important that we get to these teens early, they need to know that bullying is wrong, take responsibility for their words and actions but most of all they have to respect their peers" says Puder. He is very concerned about the rise in suicides and the correlation between bullying and depression. Puder has aligned himself with Tony House of Corporate Hype Inc/True North Wellness Management Group and is excited to launch right here in Ottawa with plans to expand across the rest of Canada. Puder adds, "we all need to take a look at this serious problem and do our part, we're losing too many good kids, we need to be proactive and reduce the impact of bullying in our schools."

In Ontario, approximately 500,000 young people (1 in 5) suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder. A third of these cannot access the services they need. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teenagers in Ottawa, and Canada's youth suicide rate is the fourth highest among OECD countries.

The funds raised will support the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB)—an accredited mental health agency—in making a real difference for youth and families. The funds will support the new YSB Youth Mental Health Walk-in Clinic, opened in January, which has already helped hundreds of youth and parents.

The clinic is free and open to anyone ages 12 to 20, and their parents, who need counselling support. Clients are seen by professionally trained counsellors with a lot of experience working with young people.

New company will focus on mentoring and inspiring healthy community lifestyles.
Ottawa, June 2, 2011

Two Ottawa entrepreneurs Darin McCorriston and Tony House have partnered with Terry Garrow to form True North Wellness Management Group (TNWMG). The company will focus on educating First Nations communities through sport and life-skills workshops. McCorriston, President of TMSI has been working with House, President of Corporate Hype Inc over the last five years conducting sports and wellness camps with the Cree Health Board in Northern Quebec. The True North Wellness model combines multiple sports (hockey, basketball, soccer and football) and exercise, with inspirational workshops on drug and alcohol, cyber-bullying, diet/nutrition, self-esteem and goal-setting. It will also leverage its impressive network to deliver other services which include: recreational facilities (design, build and manage), event planning, teambuilding/staff-training and marketing strategies – a consortium for the ages.

Garrow a fourth generation Akwesasne Mohawk, a former basketball great with the University of Manitoba is very excited about the new company, "I have no doubt that that this company will make a difference and impact the lives of both youth and adults." TNWMG will focus on the education and mentoring so that each community can sustain a healthy community lifestyle. Garrow adds, "the team we've assembled will be tremendous role models that will inspire hope for everyone we work with."

There is growing concern for "Health and Wellness" in Canada and of course not exclusive to First Nations communities. Darin McCorriston, VP of Business Development felt the timing was perfect, "we know the issues and we're confident TNWMG is in a great position to help in a number of core areas, tying in sports with critical life messages can only benefit everyone." Both McCorriston and Tony House have been active with multiple projects with the Cree Band in Northern Quebec. House was also instrumental in coordinating the prestigious 2010 National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in Ottawa last year.

Prestigious Eastern Canadian Junior A Hockey Championship comes to Ottawa for the first time in the tournaments history.
Ottawa, April 24, 2010

The Central Hockey League (formerly CJHL) is pleased to announce that the 2012 Fred Page Cup (FPC) will be hosted by the Kanata Stallions. The four team Championship will consist of the winners from the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL), Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League, the CHL Tier One league champion and the host team (Kanata Stallions). Lou Nistico, GM of the Kanata Stallions was thrilled with the decision "our organization is very excited and we're confident that we will host an outstanding week." The Stallions will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, Nistico adds, "hosting the Fred Page Cup will now take it over the top and make the year that much more special for our franchise." The Stallions will also leverage the experience of Event Chair Tony House (Corporate Hype) who has played an integral role in numerous local hockey championships. In fact both Nistico and House have already recruited a solid nucleus for their Host Organizing Committee.

Kevin Abrams, President of the Central Hockey League (CHL) thinks the league will definitely benefit from having the Fred Page Cup in Ottawa. "It's probably been long overdue but the timing is right with the Stallions and I think they'll do a great job of hosting this event." Abrams also feels the league and especially the City teams can all build on the FPC momentum, "there will be a lot of attention and hype over the next two years around Jr. A hockey in Ottawa which can only help growing our brand in the Ottawa hockey community." The FPC showcases the best Jr. A teams in Eastern Canada with the winner joining four other teams in the RBC Cup where a National Champion will be crowned.
